Fleet Energy Efficiency Audit
As a result of the signing of an agreement between the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (Consejería de Fomento y Vivienda) and the Andalusian Energy Agency (Agencia Andaluza de la Energía) to promote the development of sustainable mobility projects in the territory of Andalusia, it has been decided to conduct a Fleet Energy Efficiency Audit (EEA) of the public transport intercity services owned by the Government of Andalusia, under concession regime.
This energy audit intends to gather information on the fleet energy consumption, the variables affecting somehow this consumption and the different alternatives to work on in order to reduce it.
The energy efficiency of all the buses from all the different companies that render this kind of service will be diagnosed. An Action Plan will be elaborate to identify all the measures to be taken into account in order to reduce the negative impacts associated to transport, such as: excessive growth of energy consumption, CO2 emissions, air pollution, noise, accidents, traffic jams, etc.
Transport sector is one of the sectors that need more energy resources for its operation. In this sense, the improvement of its fuel consumption will significantly improve the citizens’ quality of life as well as contribute to a sustainable development while alleviating the global warming.
Once the audit has been conducted, an action plan will be launched to reduce and optimize the energy consumption, in order to achieve the established objectives.
